The love between the earth and the leaf
was a special one
made only of glances and longings
because the trees
don't set the leaves free
when they are green
and the leaves can't love the earth
until they are withered
and fall off
tumbling to the ground
but nature
doesn't agree with the trees
and when there is a special love
between a leaf and the earth,
it calls the wind
and makes the leaf fall off
because there's nothing
more beautiful than love,

even if the trees
don't know it.
