It might even be true
and wonderful
that we’ll just shut our eyes and fly away,
awakening to pure joy
but just seeing how ugly our faces have become
our bodies, our hearts
powerless
as we slip
unable to stop,
makes it useless to breathe,
what’s the point?
Just admit it:
“We have to,
we all have to.”
And there are no doors,
no way out.
How sad it will be to die!
But that’s all right.
It means that I loved life.

Che tristezza morire!

Che tristezza morire!
Sarà pur vero
e bello
chiudere gli occhi e volare,
svegliarsi e gioire
ma il vedersi vecchi
e abbrutiti nel volto,
nel corpo e nel cuore
e impotenti nel scivolare
senza potersi fermare,
rende il sospiro vano,
cosí
giusto per dire:
“Dobbiamo,
tutti dobbiamo.”
E non ci sono porte
da cui scappare.
Che tristezza morire!
E va bene!
Vuol dire che ho amato la vita.
