the way a mouth parched
by the heat of the desert
longs for water,
like the new buds
look for the spring sun,
like scorched earth
waits for the fury of the monsoon.

it won’t take long to quench my thirst,

Ti desidero
come una bocca riarsa
dal caldo del deserto
desidera l’acqua,
come i germogli in fiore
cercano il sole di primavera,
come la terra bruciata
aspetta la furia del monsone.
Eppure
ci vorrà poco a placare la sete,
presto i fiori sbocceranno
e anche le risaie saranno piene
ma non basterebbe una vita insieme
per soddisfare il mio desiderio
il mio desiderio di te.
