I could say
that I would have been on time
if I hadn’t been late,
that it would be sunny outside
if it weren’t cloudy,
that it would be daytime
if it weren’t nighttime.
I could say
that there would be foliage
if this weren’t the desert
and that there would be no ocean
if there weren’t any water
but could I ever say
that I exist
if there was no you?

Ovvietà

Potrei dire
che sarei arrivato in orario
se non fossi arrivato in ritardo,
che ci sarebbe il sole
se non ci fossero le nuvole,
che sarebbe giorno
se non fosse notte.
Potrei dire
che ci sarebbe il verde
se non ci fosse il deserto
e che non ci sarebbe il mare
se non ci fosse l’acqua
ma potrei mai dire
che ci sarei io
se non ci fossi tu?
