This poem features a ring-structure; starting from the first line, one must develop the poem and then come back to the first line. Each verse is inspired by a word from the previous verse, with the obvious exception of the first verse, that could, instead, in a different poem, be inspired by the title of the poem.

Ring

The birds fly
in the turquoise sky
upon golden fields
bleached blond by the sun
in a summer of fire
volcanos boil over
among jets of lava
that plough valleys
surrounded by mountains
like luxurious crowns
that adorn queens
in fairy tales and castles
made of towers and doors
defenders of households
in villages and towns
so many people
who’ve never seen a desert
where the sand lives
on the shores of the sea
and shells glitter
together with necklaces and ear-rings
embroidered with precious stones
found in mines
among deep caves
in bottomless oceans
they recall dreams
that fly as freely
as birds do.

La struttura è ad anello; si parte dal 1° verso, si sviluppa la poesia e si ritorna al 1° verso. Ogni verso è ispirato da una parola del verso precedente, a parte, chiaramente, il primo, che potrebbe, invece, in un’altra poesia, essere ispirato dal titolo.

Anello

Volano gli uccelli
nel cielo turchese
sopra campi dorati
imbionditi dal sole
in un’estate di fuoco
vulcani ribollono
tra getti di lava
che solcano valli
cinte da monti
come corone sontuose
abbelliscono regine
di fiabe e castelli
fatti di torri e portoni
difensori di case
in villaggi e città
moltitudini di genti
sconosciute ai deserti
dove vive la sabbia
sulla riva del mare
e brillano conchiglie
con collane e orecchini
di rare gemme intarsiati
scoperte in miniere
tra grotte profonde
di oceani senza fine
ricordano sogni che liberi
volano come gli uccelli.
