There are so many stars
in the sky tonight.
I'd like to stretch out my hand
to take one of them,
hold it in my palm
and watch it shine.
I'd listen to it singing
the songs of the sky,
telling the stories
of the faraway stars
and when it was done
I'd offer it a smile
to thank it for coming
asking it to take up above
a tear of joy.

Le canzoni del cielo

Quante stelle
nel cielo stasera.
Vorrei allungare la mano
per prenderne una,
tenerla nel palmo
e guardarla brillare.
L’ascolterei cantare
le canzoni del cielo,
raccontare le storie
degli astri lontani
e alla fine
le offrirei un sorriso
per ringraziarla di essere venuta
pregandola di portare lassù
una lacrima di gioia.
