“Sweet child,
what are you doing
all alone on the balcony?”
“I’m waiting for the moon
so I can listen to it
sing and tell stories
that only she knows.”
“But it’s still too early
to see it
and you were sleeping.”
“Yes, but I wasn’t sleeping,
I was talking to her.”
“What did she tell you?”
“She told me that she will soon come.
Now she’s with the other children
on the other side of the world
and she also told me
that everyone can see her
but only children can talk to her.”
“Why?”
“Because when you grow old
you stop waiting on the balcony
for the moon to arrive.”

Il bambino e la luna

“Dolce bambino,
che fai
tutto solo sul balcone?”
“Aspetto la luna
per sentirla cantare
e raccontare le fiabe
che solo lei conosce.”
“Ma è ancora presto
per vederla
e tu stavi dormendo.”
“Sì, ma non dormivo,
parlavo con lei.”
“Che ti ha detto?”
“Mi ha detto che verrà presto.
Adesso è con gli altri bambini,
dall’altra parte del mondo
e mi ha detto anche
che tutti la possono vedere
ma solo i bambini
possono parlare con lei.”
“Perché?”
“Perché quando diventi grande
non aspetti piú sul balcone
che arrivi la luna.”
